Marangoni Tyres Production BMW Championship and Marangoni Tyres / GAZ Shocks BMW Compact Cup ...
In the United Kingdom there exists a huge globally respected motorsports industry. Household names like McLaren and Red Bull base their F1 operations in the UK, as do many World Rally teams, Sports Car teams along with thousands of smaller companies who’s day to day businesses are linked to the worlds of cars and speed. This is only the top of the tree however, and all the way down to the local weekend “Club” racer, British Motorsport is thriving, even in these times of financial insecurity.
Marangoni has had a long and successful relationship with Motorsports, and you only have to look towards Simone Faggioli and his team to find multiple wins for our tyres in top level European and Italian Hillclimb competitions. Our tyres have also been used in many circuit racing series in the past as well, with most of these taking place in Italy. Until recently however, Marangoni tyres haven’t featured in races held in the UK, arguably “the home of global Motorsport”.
That all changed in 2012 when the Marangoni UK Sales and Marketing team decided to use UK Motorsport as a platform to further enhance the Marangoni brand name and visibility. The decision was taken that Marangoni would support “grass roots” entry level racing, in the hope of giving weekend “Club” racers good quality tyres and cost savings over their existing tyre brands. Since starting this programme, Marangoni now supply two of the most popular and high profile Club racing Championships, and are on the look out to expand into further race series when the circumstances are right to do so.
The Marangoni Tyres Production BMW Championship
This is a one make race series which uses the popular E30 model BMW 320i. All cars are evenly matched in terms of performance which means that the race winners are usually the best race drivers. The series is hugely well supported and there are always full race grids at the events with upwards of 50 cars often being found on track at the same time. The races are held at the UK’s most important and well known circuits including Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Donington Park.
All cars run on Marangoni Zeta Linea Sport tyres which are the “semi slick” race version of the Zeta Linea road tyres. In 2012, the first year of Marangoni involvement with the championship, all previous circuit lap records were broken, proving without doubt the performance advantage of Marangoni over the tyres which were used by the cars in the past.
The Marangoni Tyres Production BMW Championship is one of the UK’s most popular and well respected entry level race series in the UK, and Marangoni are proud to be associated as Title Sponsors and tyre suppliers.

Marangoni Tyres / GAZ Shocks BMW Compact Cup
Based on the popular E36 model BMW 318Ti Compact, in the last 2 years this English race series has proven to be the fastest growing championship in UK motor racing. From around 12 cars competing in 2011, there are now around 75 cars built and eligible to race. The cars are all very evenly matched and the regulations tightly control all aspects of their performance. The racing is close, competitive and fair and the series is the envy of many other championships which are showing declining numbers.
For the 2013 season, all races are televised and shown on the very popular Motors TV channels which gives the Marangoni brand even more consumer visibility.
The cars all race on the semi slick Zeta Linea Sport tyre, but for wet conditions also have the choice to race on standard Zeta Linea road tyres. This proves without doubt that our road tyres have a great level of endurance and performance capability.
As well as supporting the race series through sponsorship, Marangoni also support the entry of the official Marangoni BMW Compact race car. Driven by rookie racer Scott Carruthers, the car is fully liveried in Marangoni branding and gives an additional level of brand exposure whenever it is seen on track or on the TV race coverage.

Marangoni Tyres Scottish BMW Compact Cup
The success of the English BMW Compact Cup has led to the formation of a “mirror image” of the Championship to be born in Scotland in 2013. The concept to start a Scottish BMW Compact Cup was only discussed in September 2012 but is already proving to be the fastest growing race series in Scotland.
All of the Scottish races are held at Scotland’s only internationally recognised race circuit, Knockhill. The cars are developed and built to exactly the same specification as the cars from the English race series, and they use the same tyre options of Zeta Linea Sport (semi slick) and Zeta Linea (road tyre)
After only a few months in development, the series already has around 15 cars and there are many more currently being built and prepared to enter the championship before the end of the season.
The Scottish race series is also televised on Motors TV as part of a regular 1 hour feature based on the Knockhill race meetings. www.bmwracedays.co.uk

As well as raising awareness of the Marangoni brand to the motor racing scene and to the consumer market, the involvement in these race series allows Marangoni’s UK clients and partners to witness an investment in the brand they are supporting and selling. The various race series are often reported on the internet and in print as well, which gives even further visibility and brand exposure.
